Step 1. Upload
Choose the file and state the import type. The platform parses the file and shows which columns it found.
Step 2. Column mapping
Here you say which column of your file corresponds to which GREM field. The system proposes a mapping itself - check it and correct anything it read differently.
Five fields are required for a property:
- Title
- Type
- Country
- City
- Price
The checklist at the top counts how many of them are already mapped.
Unmapped columns are simply skipped: nothing breaks, that data just does not travel. If your file holds something the platform has no field for, leave the column unmapped.
A mapping can be saved as a template and reused next time on a file with the same columns - a real time-saver when an export from another system arrives every month.
Step 3. Reviewing rows
This is the last place where the file can still be corrected. Every row is shown exactly as it will be saved:
- required fields are marked with an asterisk;
- errors are highlighted in red;
- the default-values block lets you fill in what the file lacks (a currency for every row, for instance).
A row can be fixed, confirmed or skipped. There is also a "confirm all" action.
Nothing has reached the database at this step. Records are created only after you save on step four.
Step 4. Saving
The summary shows three numbers: how many records were created, how many contained errors and how many you skipped. The gap between the size of the file and the number created is explained by those other two figures.
Photos referenced by links in the file are downloaded in the background, so they appear on the cards with a delay. That is not an error: give the import a few minutes.
Common questions
The file uploaded but no columns are shown. Check that the first row of the file holds column headers rather than data.
The price was imported as zero. Most often the column contains text with spaces or a currency symbol. Fix the row at the review step, or strip the symbols in the file and upload it again.
Fewer records were created than there are rows in the file. Look at the summary: rows with errors and skipped rows are counted separately.
